Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel — suites on Place de la Concorde, Paris

An eighteenth-century palace, recomposed for the way people travel now

La Suite selected the Hôtel de Crillon for one reason above all others: the suite portfolio is among the most architecturally coherent in Paris. This is not a hotel that added suites to an existing room count. The building, a neoclassical palace commissioned by Louis XV and overlooking Place de la Concorde since 1758, was conceived at a scale where suites are the natural unit of space. Everything here is proportioned accordingly.

The Crillon closed for four years and reopened in 2017 following a restoration led by interior designer Aline Asmar d'Amman, working alongside Tristan Auer and Karl Lagerfeld, who designed two suites shortly before his death. The brief was not to modernise the palace but to reveal it: to let the boiseries, the double-height ceilings, and the stone facades set the terms, then build a contemporary sensibility around them. The result is an interior that feels neither preserved nor reinvented, but genuinely inhabited. Rivolta Carmignani linens, Drouault pillows, marble bathrooms with underfloor heating, and walk-in rain showers exist alongside these bones without visual conflict.

The food and beverage program is unusually complete for a palace hotel, and it contributes directly to the experience of staying here. L'Écrin holds a Michelin star and operates as a proper gastronomic destination in its own right. Paul Pairet's Nonos counter brings a different register entirely, deli-style and deliberately informal, which gives guests a reason to move through the hotel rather than retreat to their floor. Jardin d'Hiver handles all-day dining with a lightness that larger palace restaurants rarely achieve. The bar Les Ambassadeurs, facing the square, is one of the most recognisable rooms in the capital.

The spa, centred on an indoor pool with a fireplace, holds its own within this context. It does not attempt to be a destination wellness facility. It is quiet, properly sized, and designed for guests whose primary reason for being here is the suite, not the treatment menu.

Place de la Concorde is not a neighbourhood in the conventional sense. It is a civic axis connecting the Tuileries to the Champs-Élysées, with the Orsay and the Louvre both within a short walk. The Crillon sits at its centre. For La Suite, the selection was straightforward: this is one of the small number of Paris addresses where the architecture, the suite collection, and the location form a single coherent argument rather than three separate selling points.
